10 Easy Ways to Clean Jewelry At Home

Wearing jewelry and accessories are the most exciting part of women life. gold, diamond, platinum or anything precious maintaining these kinds are easy but women we never stop our love in only these we love to wear accessories of any kind.

They really need more care to keep it all time shine. Even gold and silver jewelry will have an accumulation of grime and dirt it is very difficult to clean.

Hereafter you don’t need to worry, we can clean them using the things available in our households itself.

Here I have pointed some easy ways to clean jewelry at home.

1. Vinegar

  • Take ¼ cup of vinegar in a bowl and add 2tablespoons of baking soda and some amount of water and make it into a thick paste.

  • Take an old soft brush to clean your jewelry. Take and rub the paste all over your jewelry.

  • Continue this for 5 to 10minutes.

  • Rinse with normal water and let it to dry.

Additional Tip:

For better results, you can also soak your jewelry in vinegar for 5mins before using this paste.

2. Baking Soda

  • Take about 2 tablespoons of baking soda and add some water and make it into a paste.

  • Take an old soft brush to clean your jewelry. Take and rub the paste all over your jewelry.

  • You can see the dullness goes away and started to shine then rinse it with water.

  •  Repeat this procedure if needed.

Additional tip:

You can replace water with white vinegar (optional). Avoid using them on anything with enamel, gemstones or pearls.

3. Toothpaste


  • Toothpaste is one always available in home and it is the most inexpensive, easy, and effective way of cleaning your teeth and your jewelry to make it shine.

  • Take a soft cloth or cotton or a toothbrush apply a little paste and rub it thoroughly.

  • Wipe it fully.

  • Rub it and wash it with a fresh towel.

4. Alcohol – Vodka, Tequila, Beer

Take and dip a soft cloth or cotton in vodka, beer, or tequila and rub it to the jewelry thoroughly.
Your jewelry will starts to shine.

5. Tamarind Paste

Tamarind is the essential thing available in our home always.

It is very helpful in removing the black pigment in your jewelry.

It is very useful for cleaning your silver articles.

Soak a small ball of tamarind in little water for 15mins and mash it into a paste.

Scrub your jewelry with this paste.

Make your silver to brand new.

6. Soap nuts

Take some amount of soap nuts and soak it in water for 15 minutes.

Extract a soapy liquid and soak your jewelry in it for some time.

Scrub and wash it in water and clean them using a paper towel.

7. Ketchup


It sounds little bizarre but trust me it works because it is highly acidic and helps to remove grit and grime.

  • Dip a soft cloth or a brush in ketchup and clean your jewelry items using it.

  • Rinse it with clean water and continue the same if needed.

8. Boiling Water

Cleaning your jewelry with boiling water is the safest and easiest option.

  • Boil water and add little detergent into it if you need.

  • Soak the jewelry for about 10-20 minutes.

  • Rub it and clean with fresh water.

9. Lemon Juice


Squeeze one lemon in a cup of water.

Soak your jewel for 15minutes.

Wash it or wipe it with water or cloth.

Additional Tip:

You can soak it overnight for better results.

10. Dish washing Liquid

  • Add a few drops of the dish washing liquid to a bowl of warm water.

  • Add your jewelry and soak it for 30minutes.

  • Rinse them with cold water.

  • Wipe it with cloth or paper towel.
